The Rose Window

Made by Bots and Miesen of Cologne, Germany, this window above the balcony portrays Christ, the Head of the Church, surrounded by symbols indicating the primary tasks of the Church:

  • preaching the Word and
  • administration of the Sacraments

The remaining symbos indicate other functions of the Church and reflect the words of Christ in St. Matthew’s Gospel:

  • give drink to the thirsty
  • clothe the naked
  • feed the hungry
  • visit the sick and imprisoned
  • bury the dead

(St. Matthew 25)
