Window 10 – The Resurrection

The resurrection of Jesus is the Christian religious belief that, after being put to death, Jesus rose again from the dead. It is the central tenet of Christian theology and part of the Nicene Creed: “On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures”.

Angel, St. Mary Magdalene

Pomegranate: A bursting pomengranate symbolizes the resurrection because Christ burst forth from the tomb on Easter.

Butterfly: new life

Peacock: immorality because it renews its plumage annually

Phoenix: This symbol of Christ’s resurrection is an imaginary bird which is said to live five hundred years in the Arabian desert. It is then consumed by a fire but rises again, fresh and beautiful, from its own ashes.
